Happy 2013

Our ringing in of the New Year has been very low key (and chilly) this year as 2 out of 4 of us (Lorne and Anna) are sick and our furnace is not working, hence the chilly part. Thanks for coming in with a bang 2013 :/

Last night we spent the evening celebrating with the girls. We had a dinner of appetizers and sparkling cider. The girls had fun and after they went to bed Lorne and I managed to stay up until 10pm!! before calling it a night. We really know how to party!

We woke today to a chilly house filled with beautiful sunshine. A crystal clear blue sky is a rare sight in these parts this time of year so we felt the need to do something. Since Lorne and Anna still aren’t feeling well we decided to take a quiet drive around  to see the city and the mountains bathed in sunshine. We really are incredibly lucky to live in such a beauty rich part of the country. Everywhere you look there are incredible vistas. Mountains all around. Trees reaching high into the sky. When you light that with often hidden winter sun it really is something. Our drive was the perfect way to kick off the year. We chatted and took in the breathtaking sights from the warmth of our car while sipping hot chocolate. Can’t think of a better way to welcome 2013.

Tomorrow promises more sunshine and hopefully a warmer house once our furnace gets fixed (thank goodness for our kickass gas fireplace). Looking forward to another great year with my little family watching my girls grow and enjoy life, spending time with my love and taking in all this great city has to offer.

Happy 2013 everyone! I hope this year brings you lots of smiles and laughs, lots of time with those you love and a chance to do the things that make you happiest.

Looking Back on 2012

As we get ready to ring in the new year I’ve taken some time to look back on this past year. 2012 was a good year for us, it was also a year of big change.

A year ago, as we got ready to welcome 2012 things were very different. Our beloved kitties, Lily and Laura, were still with us. Anna was still teeny tiny (okay, she’s still tiny, but she was just a wee babe). And, we were still in our little green house in St. Louis.

2012 was good to us in many ways, but it was not without its low points. We have much to be thankful for, much to look back on with smiles, but 2012 also brought us tears and sadness. We said goodbye to our sweet Laura in March and then our dear Lily in November. We miss them terribly but we are so grateful for the years they were part of our family.

This time last year we had no idea what 2012 had in store for us. We had no idea that a year later we would be living in a different city, hundreds of miles from St. Louis. 2012 found us making big decisions and making a huge move, halfway across the country to Seattle. It was hard to say goodbye to our friends and our home but we are enjoying Seattle and settling in.

Even with its low points 2012 was a good year for us. Our girls are healthy, beautiful and full of life. Louis is now part of our family, causing trouble and winning our hearts. Life is good. I can’t wait to see what 2013 has in store for us.

Happy New Year! I hope you have a wonderful time ringing 2013 with friends and family and I hope the new year holds great things for all of you.

Out With the Old, In With the New

Today is the last day of 2010. I can hardly wrap my head around the fact that we are already a full decade into the 2000s, it’s crazy. Time goes by so quickly. Each year with its ups and downs, its memories, its laughter and its tears.  Tomorrow it will be 2011 and we’ll get to start a fresh new year full of fresh new memories and moments.

2010 was a good year for me, for our family.  We sold our condo and bought a new house.  We’ve spent the better part of the summer and fall moving in, settling in and making this place our own (truth be told we’re still working on it).  We continued to watch our little girl grow up and change before our very eyes.  It is amazing it me how different a 2 year old is from a 3 year old.  She is no longer a baby, no longer even remotely resembles a baby.  She is 100% little girl now full of strong opinions, stubborn attitudes and a need to talk your ear off.

We started this year with the hopes of growing our family, of adding a new little one.  And, after months and months of disappointment we ended the year with some really great news. 2010 wasn’t the year of baby #2 for us but 2011 is going to be!

Most years we are traveling New Years.  We are either on the road or just getting home New Year’s Eve.  This year, since we are home we’ve decided to spend the night with some great friends.  It’ll be a great way to ring in 2011.

2011 is going to be a big year for us full of adventure. I can’t wait.

Happy New Year to all of you.  I hope 2011 is a wonderful year for each of you. I hope you spend the year surround by those you love and making wonderful memories to carry with you into the years to come.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year, everyone 🙂

This past year has definitely had some highs and lows.  But I will remember 2009 as the year that brought some amazing new friends into my life and the year that I saw how wonderful and amazing this community of mommy bloggers truly is.  I hope 2010 brings many wonderful moments and memories for all of you.

I’m looking forward to seeing what wonderful things 2010 holds for my family.
