Anna adores kitties. She has a pretty intense fear of dogs, the poor thing shakes and cries when in the presence of dogs. But kitties, oh how she loves kitties, she squeals with delight just at the sight of a kitty cat. Early on in Anna’s little life our late, beloved Laura took quite a liking to her, and Anna returned the affection in her own baby way (by pulling her fur and ears, affectionately). Laura loved to cuddle and who better to cuddle with than a sweet, warm little baby. Whenever Anna was playing on the floor Laura would make her way over to her and curl up close by.
Anna loved having Laura to love on and tries with all her might to share her love with Lily. Lily is not a big fan of babies, except when they are dropping pieces of food on the floor. She has far less tolerance for the fur pulling than our sweet Laura did. Lily isn’t a cuddler with grown ups who know how to pet her gently so it is no surprise she doesn’t want to cuddle with the baby. She watches the baby from a safe distance away. Before Anna was mobile this used to frustrate her so. She would get so perturbed and scream in frustration at the fact there was a kitty just out of reach, a kitty she wanted to so badly to touch.
But all that has changed. There is no safe place to hide now. Anna is on the move and on a pretty much daily basis the goal of her little jaunts around the house is to get the kitty. Yesterday she was especially determined to show Lily some love. She spent at least 30 minutes crawling all over the house playing a game of “Here Kitty Kitty” with Lily.
She would crawl her way over to the kitty. She’d get oh so close only to have Lily move just as she was about to reach out and touch her.
She tried to lure her over with her favorite kitty toys, but it was of no use. Lily was on to her and was not about to sit around and let the adorable baby pull her fur, especially if wasn’t going to get cheese after.
It was very entertaining watching Anna’s adventure to get the cat unfold. Maya and I were in hysterics. Seriously, every single time she was just about to touch the kitty she would move. But Anna was so determined, she wasn’t about to give up.
Mommy, why won’t this kitty sit still! I just want to love her
