Let's Talk Babies!

9 months

Our incredibly adorable Miss Nora is 9 months old!! It has been three quarters of a year since she joined our crazy little family. I can hardly believe it, time is whizzing by.

Weight: 17lbs 1oz (31st percentile)

Height: 27.5 inches (45th percentile)

Head Circumference: 17.5 inches (70th percentile)

Nora had her 9 month well baby check up with Dr. H yesterday. She will given the seal of “Perfect”, not that there was ever any doubt 😉 She is growing well. Rocking the somewhere in between peanut and average size range. She demonstrated several of her recently acquired skills including waving at the doc when she came in the room and clapping and cheering when found out it was a shot free appointment :) The doctor was very impressed with her development and was not at all surprised she was already pulling up on furniture and trying to cruise. Her predicted that Nora would be an early walker, we shall see.

As I mentioned last week she has recently had a milestone explosion. Learning to crawl, sit up, pull up, walking on her knees while holding onto something, clapping and waving all mastered in a couple of weeks. She is all over the place and super fast. She can hands and knees crawl but prefers her own little version of the army crawl to get around, she is so, so fast. She spends most of the day pulling up on things and trying to figure out how to use that as a means to get around. It will not be long now and she’ll be cruising. She is already stretching out to reach close by objects and trying to figure out if she can go from one thing to the next without having to sit down and crawl. Once she figures that out there will be no keeping up with her! She is one determined little girl.

As much as she loves to explore and play she is also super cuddly. She loves giving me hugs and kisses. Every so often, in the middle of her play, she’ll crawl up to me and climb into my lap for a snuggle. I love it!

She is the sweetest, happiest baby. The big girls adore her and play so well with her. She recently graduated to having a bath in the big tub and Anna and Maya fight over who gets to have a bath with her! And Nora adores her sisters every bit as much as they adore her. She watches them and loves to join them in their play. It is so wonderful to watch them all interact. Melts my heart every time.

We love you to pieces baby girl!

Anna is three quarters of a year old. 9 whole months have passed since her birth, how is that possible!

Weight: 17lbs 5oz (22nd precentile)

Height: 27.5 inches (48th percentile)

Head Circumference: 17 inches (27th percentile)

As you can see from her stats Anna is still my little peanut. At nine months she is only just reaching Maya’s 7 month stats. She may be tiny but she is strong and super healthy. Her appointment today with her pediatrician went wonderfully. Anna was babbling up a storm and show off her great verbal skills. After a once over from the doctor she was declared to be “absolutely perfect” (her exact words).

A lot has changed since I did her 8 month write up including the fact that she has become quite mobile. She isn’t crawling yet but has figured out how to push herself backwards, army style, in order to get around. So between rolling, scooting and pushing backwards she is into all sorts of trouble. A few times I’ve caught her up on her hands and knees rocking a bit so I’m guessing full on crawling is probably in her pretty near future. If I stand her up next to the couch or a table she will hold on and stand for several minutes and can lower herself down slowly onto her bottom. She looks so little stand there, but oh so cute :)

Another big change for Miss Anna is that she now has 2 little teeth. Her bottom 2 teeth popped through a couple of  weeks ago. In true Anna fashion she breezed through teething and I didn’t even know she was working on any teeth until it poked through her gums. Given the ridiculous amount of drool she is currently producing I’m guessing she may be working on the top two now. She shows her little teefers off all the time when she makes her new favorite silly face :)

Anna is such a doll. She is so silly and sweet and lovable. She has become a lot more vocal lately and is babbling up a storm saying “mama”, “dada” and “yaya” (which I’m pretty sure is her way of saying Maya) all the time along with lots of other babbles. She’ll be talking and talking away, full of smiles and I can’t help but wonder what she is thinking. Each day with her is filled with sweet little moments, soft snuggles and lots of smiles and giggles. We all love her to pieces. Maya, especially, can’t seem to get enough of her little sister. She plays so well with her and talks and giggles with her all day. These two have such a special bond, it is even sweeter than I ever could have imagined before Anna was born.

Love you to pieces sweet baby girl. Can’t wait to see what this month has in store for you, what little 9 month old adventures you will have. Watching you grow sure is something special. My heart is full to the brim with love.

I’ve added a couple of new skills to my repertoire over the last little while including”human jungle gym” and “chaser of little munchkins who like to get into everything”. It is amazing how my job as mom changes daily. As my daughter learns ever more new and exciting things I have to adapt my skills and quickly learn some new ones in order to keep up with her.

As I say every time I write about my baby, I can’t believe she is already 9 (almost 10) months old already. Where has the time gone?

My daughter is now crawling all over the place. She looks so adorable doing her little army crawl. It is amazing how quickly she can get some where when she really wants something, especially if it isn’t a baby toy! We’ve done a little baby proofing around here. The usually plug covers and removing of things at her level that seem a little dangerous. As the weeks and months go by I’m sure we’ll have to do a lot more. I really should put those little lock thingys on the cupboards before she figures out how to open them.

Just when we started getting used to the whole crawling thing she has added some new skills. She is know getting from crawling to sitting by herself (and visa versa) and pulling herself up on things. She hasn’t pulled herself up on the couch yet, but she does pull herself up in her crib and on the entertainment center. Today she pulled herself up on the edge of the bathtub! When I play on the floor with her she loves to climb all over me (human jungle gym!). Before we know it she’ll be using the furniture to walk around, yikes. My baby is growing up so fast.

I am still breastfeeding. My plan is to breastfeed until she is a year old and then slowly wean from there. She certainly loves breastfeeding so I’m not to sure how that will go. I’ll have to keep you posted and share my tips and tricks when the time comes. She isn’t the greatest eater of solids but she does OK. She likes finger foods, Gerber Puffs are her all time favorite. I’m sure she would eat Gerber Puffs for every meal if we let her. She also loves fresh peaches. I’ll let her bite a piece off the peach when I’m eating one and she just loves that.

Life around here is so much fun with our little girl around. She brings great joy and entertainment every day. It is so much fun to see the world through her eyes and watch her explore new surroundings. She is a total mama’s girl but she loves to see other people (as long as they don’t try to hold her) Her new favorite thing is to ride around in the front of the shopping cart waving and saying “HI” to everyone we meet.
