Last week Maya’s preschool had a field trip to a local pumpkin patch. Part of the admission fee covered the cost of a 15lb pumpkin. The kiddos, their teachers and us parents got to take a fun little hayride out to a field filled with pumpkins and the kids got to pick out their pumpkin. Maya was excited that she got to pick out a big pumpkin this year. She was very diligent at first, examining each pumpkin carefully. This diligence quickly gave way to trying to throw any old pumpkin into our cart so that she could start playing with her friends. We eventually found the perfect pumpkin.
The pumpkin has been sitting on our balcony ever since, patiently waiting to be carved into a jack-o-lantern. Late yesterday we finally had a few minutes to dedicate to the pumpkin. The girls and I worked on cleaning out the pumpkin so that Lorne could carve his face.
In years past Maya has always wanted a happy jack-o-lantern but this year she was brave and decided she wanted her pumpkin to have a scary face, but not too scary! It turned out pretty well.
The girls had fun checking out the pumpkin once Lorne had finished carving it. In true Anna fashion she had to give him a hug 🙂
