This weekend was one of big changes around our house.  Our little Miss Maya no longer sleeps in a crib, she now slumbers in her new big girl bed.

A few weeks ago Maya started climbing out of her crib.  Her crib is the type that has the change table built in.  For a while she has been able to climb up onto the change table from her crib and but just recently figured out that she could use the shelves of the change table as a ladder and climb out of her bed.   I decided Friday afternoon when I went in to get her after her nap and she was on the floor and told me she had slept on the floor that it was definitely time to make the big change.

So, Saturday afternoon Lorne put his handy man skills to work and got to work converting Maya’s crib to a toddler bed.  Maya had fun helping out.

Maya was very pleased with her new big girl bed.  Saturday night when she went to bed she was just beaming with pride.   When I checked on her before going to bed myself she was all curled up on her little bed.  She looked so little.

So far the switch has gone smoothly.  Bedtime has been a breeze, it is actually easier than when she was still in the crib (knock on wood).  Nap time yesterday was quite a bit shorter than normal, but hopefully as she adjusts to her new bed she’ll go back to her normal nap schedule.  I think the draw of her bookshelf was just a bit too much for her yesterday afternoon.
