Maya absolutely loves snowmen, or “tonan” as she calls them
.
All her favorite Christmas decorations involve snowmen. Including her absolute favorite one that had to stay out all year long the last two years (we did manage to convince her to part with it this year and have it safely stowed away in the Christmas box for next year). She was very pleased when Nana gave us another singing snowman decoration for Christmas this year.
The funny thing is we don’t get that much snow here in St. Louis so she hasn’t had that much experience with actual snowmen. But nonetheless the girl loves her a snowman.
Over the holidays while we were visiting with my in-laws, who happen to live in a very snowy area, Maya got to see, and play with, her first real snowman. My in-laws had a ton of snow when we arrived Christmas day and it continued to accumulate as the snow kept falling over the 4 days we were there. Most days the snow was too fluffy to make a snowman, but one day the snow was just right. It was that heavy, wet stuff that is just right for packing the perfect snowballs and making the perfect snowman.
So, while Maya was blissfully napping Lorne braved the cold and (along with a little help from Aunt Kathleen and Grandma) rolled three perfect balls, found some perfect sticks for arms and a mouth, found perfect stones for the eyes, and a carrot for the nose. And the end result was a perfect snowman. I think only an engineer could build a snowman this perfectly!!
When Maya got up from nap I got her all bundled up in her snowsuit and we went outside to check out the wonderful snowman Daddy had made for her. She loved it.
We got some snow here yesterday and the first thing Maya wanted to do was go outside and make a snowman
Unfortunately it was bitterly cold and the snow was too fluffy for snowman building. Hopefully we’ll get a good wet, heavy snow at some point so she can get out there with Daddy and make another perfect snowman friend.

Ha! We have that same Hallmark singing snowman thing. Ours got carried up and down the hall and all over the house, endlessly singing “Hopping around the Christmas tree at the Penguin Party….” My MIL gives us one of those every year. Too cute.
Ha, that’s too funny. Yep, ours got carried around every where. My mum knew how much she loved it so she got us another one this year, Maya loves the new one just as much.
