How is it December already?  How is it possible that the year is almost over and I feel like it only just began?

When I was a child I remember thinking that time went by so slowly.  It seemed like forever for my birthday to roll around each year.  The time between the start of the school year and the start of summer vacation felt like an eternity.  And Christmas, my goodness, I thought that it would never arrive.  Somehow, as the years have gone by time seems to have sped up.  The years come and go so quickly I can hardly keep track of them.  One year blends into the next.  And now that I’m a mum time seems to be going by even faster.  Why does that happen?

Years ago I can remember my mum talking about how fast time went by.  To my young ears that sounded crazy.  I was too young to get where she was coming from, I didn’t understand.  Now I get it.  Now I agree with her, time does go by so fast.  Which is how it is somehow already December.

December has always been one of my favorite months.  I love winter just for this 4 week period (after December winter is free to go away).  I love all the Christmas decorations, carols playing in the stores and on the car radio, and all the gift buying for family and friends.  December rules.
