J. Soto,

I have in fact written to my senator and house representative about the lack of maternity leave in this country. It is important for everyone to make their voices heard about the lack of maternity leave. However, what we have at this time is very little and has lead to a decline in how many infants are breastfed past 3 months of age. Mothers need to be encouraged to continue breastfeeding as long as they can both for the benefits to their babies and to themselves.

Thank you for your feedback.

Instead of pressuring women into continuing to breastfeed well after they return to work, perhaps this author should be pressuring our government to provide at least 6 months paid leave for women after childbirth.
