Let's Talk Babies!

Probably the best part about being pregnant, the idea of creating life, feeling your baby move for the first time, and seeing their little arms and legs on the ultrasound aside of course, is the shopping you now get to do. The prospects are endless, there is the nursery to create, little baby clothes to buy, and the toys you know they won’t be able to live without.

What could be more fun than imagining and creating the perfect nursery for your new little baby? Visit any store that has a baby section these days and you will see that the choices are endless when it comes to nursery themes. You can go with the little airplane theme for your new baby son, or the antique floral design for your beautiful daughter. Even if you decide not to find out the sex of the baby before its arrival you will still have plenty of options to choose from that are gender neutral, like animals, an alphabet theme, or just plain pale colors like yellows or greens.

Of course nursery theme is not the only thing that goes into creating the perfect nursery. It might seem like the most important, however, your baby will likely need a place to lay her pretty little head, and somewhere for you to change her diaper. Shopping for and picking nursery furniture as it turns out can be quite a chore. Before I began noticing things like the baby department I had no idea there were so many choices when it comes to the style of furniture for a baby’s room. It seems like there are more styles of cribs than there are styles of double beds. There are ones with simple lines, more flowery styles suited for those little girl’s rooms, and of course there is wood color and type, the options are never ending. No wonder parents start looking at this stuff so early in the pregnancy. It could easily take you 9 months to pick out the nursery furniture alone.

Next to creating the perfect nursery, shopping for itty bitty baby clothes will probably take up more of your time than you ever imagined. I don’t even have a little on the way, yet, and I still find myself perusing the baby clothing department every chance I get. Each little sleeper, or dress, or pair of denim overalls will seem like the perfect item to add to your baby’s ever growing wardrobe. Finding restraint will become difficult, but remember you have years of clothes buying left to do so don’t spend all your money on baby clothes. One recommendation I got from a friend of mine, and I definitely plan to do this, is not to buy all clothing in newborn sizes. Babies grow very quickly so be sure to spend some money on sizes they will fit into 3 or 6 months down the road. You will have more time to shop before the baby arrives then you will after, so take this time to plan ahead.

Being pregnant can be difficult with all the morning sickness, exhaustion, and all the other lovely symptoms that come along. Getting to shop for baby is one symptom I think we can all live with!!! Now that the stick has turned blue shop away, and have fun picking out all those perfect little things for your baby.
